I’m excited to share that my original collages are now available framed at Arcade Home in Oakville ON. Owners Emily Cade and Melissa Sheppard have curated a beautiful collection of modern artwork, accessories, and furniture for your home.

“We carry all original Canadian art, no reproductions. We offer art curation, interior design, and styling services.” What a lovely surprise to open my November issue of House and Home and see the shop featured.

Being a Tourist

Is something I have truly missed over the past few years. We haven’t travelled since the pandemic started, so our recent trip to Montreal felt quite exciting. I snapped a few photos of things that caught my eye and I thought I would share them with you.

It was warm and we did lots of walking! Textured walls, tiled subway stops, murals and sculptures. Here’s some inspiration.

New Collages!

I am so excited to share this latest collection of collages with you. These birds gave me a lot of enjoyment and it's hard to choose a favourite. The day I began to create these I was listening to Nathaniel Rateliff’s music and the ideas were pouring out of me. It is such an intense feeling when you are on a roll, like nothing can stop you. When inspiration hits you never know where it will take you. I love this collection and the stories that they tell.

Create a focal point by grouping two or three together. Above a sofa, credenza, or bed...the possibilities are endless. Nature with a twist of contemporary, is that a thing? There are Sixteen original collages available ranging from 9x12" to 18x24". I would love it if you checked them out and told a friend who might enjoy this collection.

Beach Vibes

We just spent the weekend with friends and family on the water and it felt great to relax. Our dog Biggie loves to hang outside and went for a little dip to cool off.

When I think of the beach these talented artists come to mind. Check out Meg Venter, Kristine Brookshire, and Teil Duncan. Here are some photos that caught my eye, remember to shop small if you can.

Lately

I was hoping I would be inspired to experiment with some new mediums other than collage this Summer. We are almost into August and it hasn’t happened yet. I have some ideas for collages, I might get my art supplies out next week and see what I come up with. This is a good reminder I had to share.

Here are a few photos of my work installed. It never gets old, every time I see my art in its new home I get excited! Artwork in the bathroom and kitchen are places you may forget about, it really does add that personal element making your house a home.

Jenny Andrews Anderson

American artist, Jenny Andrews Anderson's artwork is bold and full of expression. The elements that I connect with are her use of colour and pattern. Her work is in the home of collectors around the globe, and it is easy to see why. Her compositions and subject matter continue to evolve.

“For me, painting is a language and exchange between colors. Each color suggests the next and so on until something (hopefully) intriguing happens.” - Jenny

Her work transports the viewer to a whimsical place full of joy. She has just released a new collection of paintings and collages that are available here. If you are not already following her check out her Instagram account, you won’t be disappointed. Her sense of humour is the best!

I cannot pick a favourite but here are a few stand-out pieces that I wanted to share with you.

Summer

Is officially here and I am so looking forward to the sunny days ahead. Lots of memories to be made with my family.

The other day a TED talk clip popped up online that I watched during the early months of the Pandemic lockdown. Ethan Hawke speaks about giving yourself permission to be creative and I thought I would share the video, check it out here. If you have a passion try and carve out some time for yourself.

I have a selection of canvas and framed prints available through Kravet Inc. you can shop them here. I will never tire of a good stripe and “New Again” shown below is a favourite of mine. I get frequent questions from collectors about framing and this is perfect as it is already done for you.

As an artist I am always looking for the perfect composition. If could be a grafitti mural, the horizon, the possibilities are endless. I admire photographer Hayley Eichenbaums work, the composition in each of her photographs is spot on. She just posted this on Instagram and I love it!

I’ve been enjoying the show Only Murders in the Building, the docuseries Home also looks interesting. Anything about design and architecture usually keeps me from falling asleep during a show. I’m notoriuos for closing my eyes and telling my family I am still awake.

I love the architectural details in this home designed by Clare Cousins Architects. I wish they showed us a bit more of the interior in this feature.

Lately

I recently enjoyed Lucy Fenton’s house tour. It has such warmth, a fun art collection, and lots of natural light. I would love to explore the yard and put my feet up and relax here.

This apartment also caught my eye. Great use of colour and you can never have too much art!

I just discovered a new to me television show Dollface, and binged the first two seasons. An easy to watch comedy, perfect for the stressful world we are currently living in.

I’m lucky to have a print of Seonna Hong’s work in my personal collection. Her technique and subject matter continue to excite me. Love this original painting “I am the Dark”. Check out her work here.

Photographer Cristina Coral’s photographs of women are striking and I can’t get them out of my mind.

Collage heaven at That Paper Joint. I would love to attend a creative party, looks like a good time.

Artist Christin Ripley has beautiful textiles and paper goods in the dreamiest colour palettes. Love the hats, pillows and notebooks the most. Check out her shop here.

A few years ago I did a collection of collages with birds. I have had swans in the back of my mind for a long time, I connected with artist Shelby Monteverde’s work right away.

Artist Kate Jansen has me in the mood for Summer. Check out her collection of beachy, bright coloured artwork.

I have been ending my day with my favourite cup of tea which I received for Mother’s Day. If you enjoy black tea you might enjoy the Earl Grey Cream as much as I do.

These pieces are the perfect way to update your interior. Create a focal point by grouping two or three together. Above a sofa, credenza or bed, the possibilities are endless.

Have a great weekend!

4x6" Collages

During the beginning of lockdown in March 2020, which seems like 10 years ago, I created some mini collages to mail to friends. People enjoyed them so I decided to create a few collections for collectors since this time. I have offered them during Flash Sales on Instagram but never on my website. I have a few pieces left in my studio and thought I would pair them up in sets and offer them to collectors.

Check them out here, shipping is included in North America. There are four sets in total.

Lately

When I create art I am usually listening to a podcast. I enjoy personal stories and comedy, no true crime for me. I just finished Dana & David’s chat with Drew on the latest episode and enjoyed it a lot. “Comedy is medicine” - Drew Barrymore. Every week they make me laugh so much, it has kept my spirits up over the pandemic.

I just came across this house tour and interview from last summer and it made me very happy. Her art collection is unreal!

“In a world of ephemera, I find it important to live with something more lasting and meaningful. Art has a story and is something that took time and human hands to create. There is so much beauty in artistic expression, and I love surrounding myself with it in our home." - Chandra Johnson

I love this photograph by Ed Freeman. It spoke to me immediately, the composition and colour palette are perfect. You don’t have to be an expert to know what lights you up and gets you excited. I always think…buy what you love and you will always find a spot for it. Buy from the heart.

I just discovered the artist Elizabeth King Stanton, this painting is so wonderful.

If you are looking for something to watch, I enjoyed Amy Schumer’s new show Life & Beth. Another comedy that I binged is Starstruck…so funny! The documentary “Until The Wheels Fall Off” about icon Tony Hawk was pretty good as well. His passsion for his sport is unreal.

Last month I thrifted a book on potter Hans Coper. I had never heard of him before and connected with his textured pieces instantly. His pottery has me inspired!

If you need a Mothers Day gift I think art is always the perfect thing. I mentioned a lithograph print that I am interested in to my husband, it reminded me of my daughters.

Spring release with Rug & Weave

I can’t pick a favourite from this newest collection for Rug & Weave. These original collages reuse scraps from the pillows that they hand-make. I'm glad I can continue to help them limit their textile waste. Texture, pattern and colour! All of my favourite elements combined to make one stunning collection of art. Hang one on its own, or a series of two or three for that perfect statement. Check out a selection available online here or stop into their Guelph storefront location to see the full collection. The sizes available are 9x12” and 18x24”.

Here’s a peek at the collection of 24, happy shopping!

Inspiration

I’m in the early stages of creating a collection for a new design shop and enjoying the process. Architecture, design, texture and shapes continue to inspire my work. Here are a few images that I have referenced during the process.

Lately

There is nothing better than seeing a glimpse into the new homes of my artwork. Designer Michelle Berwick used my paintings on linen in this powder room, and expressed how much her client loves them, which made my made day. I love the framing choice by Tara at On The Wall Framing.

I worked with this collector to find the perfect set of collages for her home. I will never tire of an oversized matte.

I love the dramatic wall colour in this space created by designer Mikell Rice Interiors. My collage is right at home in this modern home.

Thank you to Norma de la Vega of Mi Casa Designs for introducing her clients to my artwork. These collages look amazing in these oversized frames, hung in the lounge area of a local commercial project.

Late last year a collector sent me a message that she purchased several of my collages for her home from Rug & Weave. This 18x24” looks great displayed on the textured brick fireplace.

When this collector came across my artwork she mentioned that she had no artwork in her home for over a year as she could not find anything she connected with. “Simple, clean, and unique”, what a lovely compliment.

It really makes me happy to see these pieces hung in her entry.

I will never tire of a good gallery wall, this collector is a stylist with a great eye. My collage is right at home here with this collection of artwork.

Who says you don’t need art in every room in your home? Maureen at Ursino Interiors has allowed my collages to take centre stage in this stunning design. The combination of warm wood tones, and textures are pleasing to the eye.

Pattern & More Pattern

I recently came across these two makers who focus on surface design, and thought you should know about them as well. Check out the stunning wallpaper patterns and textiles designed by Kristy Stafford. Here are a few of my favourites.

I recently came across the design studio Studio Ashby and wanted to share some interiors that caught my eye. I would love to put my feet up and relax in any of these spaces. All photographs are by Studio Ashby.

Dream Holiday

This pandemic has been going on for so long, I look forward to the day when my family can go on a holiday. When I read about this rental on airbnb I had to share, the house is so good!  If I won the lottery and could travel anywhere in the world, Australia would be at the top of my list. The art and design community there is so inspiring. This iconic mid-century modern home in Victoria was built by Sibbel Builders. Over forty years later it was bought by his daughter and restored. Scroll through the photos and I think you will agree it’s a gem.

Release of New Artwork

Before the holidays I finished up a collection of 9x12” paintings on paper. The other day I found time to photograph them and they are now available in my online shop. The combination of texture, organic shapes, and a neutral palette bring these pieces to life. Check them out here

“Wanderer”

“Hung Up”

“In The Clouds”

“Pottery #1”

“Pottery #2”

“Pottery #3”

Hang one on its own, or a series of two or three for that perfect statement. These pieces are the perfect combination of modern and classic designs.

Inspiration

As soon as I clicked onto the website of These Walls I was in love with everything! The wallpaper patterns, fabrics, colour palettes, the styled vignettes. I truly believe that I love everything that comes out of Australia. They have some talented folks down under. Here are some things that caught my eye…enjoy!

“The spaces around us resonate with our unique stories, memories and our interiors are deeply intertwined in these conversations of living.”
